Where has September gone, I can’t believe October is nearly here, the time seems to be flying by. I am getting a little nervous now, even though I am still training as per my schedule. I keep thinking, what if I can’t run that far on the race day? But I am sure this is just typical pre race nerves. There is so much advice being given to me about what I should wear, eat, level I should train to, it all getting’s a little confusing. I am thinking of trying to run 13 miles, 2 weeks before the race, which some say is a good idea and others are saying I should run just under.

So I am not 100% sure on what to do, but at this stage in my training I think it is important to stick with what I am comfortable with. The eating is going well and I have said to myself that this month, I will have a glass of wine here and there but no heavy nights out. . As all my long runs are on Sunday, I really can’t see myself getting up and running after a night out on the town! These long runs seem to be the most beneficial preparation for me, so it is important for me not to be worse for wear. So only 4 weeks to go now and I mustn’t get bored with my training. Tim and I have worked so hard already and we must keep up the pace so that we can really perform on the day. Tim and I are going to try a few different routes to keep things interesting. It is very easy to do the same old routes, week in week out but it can become boring. By simply changing the scenery it can help motivate you to keep going and not slack in any way.

Kerry Dunbar from EDF Energy is running the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon on 26 October. It will be her first ever half marathon and she'll be sharing her training highs and lows over the next few weeks in the official Birmingham Half Marathon blog.
