EDF ENERGY birmingham
half marathon
Monday 20th October 2008
The count down is on! Just under 5 days to go and counting. I must say the event has come around so quickly. I feel like I have been training for a long time now, but at the same time, I don’t feel quite ready to run the race. Never having ran a half marathon before I am not sure what to expect and I am worried that I won’t be able to run the whole route, which I really want to do. I have however done my 12 week training plan
and stuck to it as best as I could, so all I can do now is turn up on the day and give it my best shot.
I have already begun to taper off the training and have a relaxing week, in the hope I feel refreshed and ready to run on Sunday.
So that is it from me and hope you all have enjoyed the training as much as I have: although I have to be honest, I am really looking forward to having some time off training after the race and getting back to light sessions in the gym and just chilling out in general. But I have enjoyed the journey I have been though and I am now considering longer runs like a full marathon, well assuming I do ok on this one of course!
Good luck and see you all on Sunday and hope you all have a fantastic run.
Kerry Dunbar from EDF Energy is running the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon on 26 October. It will be her first ever half marathon and she'll be sharing her training highs and lows over the next few weeks in the official Birmingham Half Marathon blog.
