EDF ENERGY birmingham
half marathon
Only 50 days to go to the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon!
Saturday 6 September is a special date for runners of the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon as it marks the 50 day countdown to the event which will be staged on Sunday 26 October. Around 6,500 people have already signed up for the half marathon, which is also known as the ‘Race Against Climate Change’.
Saturday also marks 20 days until the entry deadline for the event so organisers, Birmingham City Council, are issuing a reminder to those people that are thinking of taking part that the Friday 26 September closing date is fast approaching.
But even if you are not up to the challenge of taking part in the first ever EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon you can still get involved as Birmingham City Council are also still looking for volunteers to help out at the 13.1 mile road race which starts near the Birmingham Alexander Stadium and finishes on Broad Street near Centenary Square.
There are a variety of volunteering opportunities available and to find out more call the House of Sport on 0121 464 2012.
For more information about the event or to sign up now go to www.birminghamhalfmarathon.com or call 0844 888 3883.
As well as signing up for the event in their thousands, many runners have been pledging their support for the 2012 Carbon Challenge and are committing to reducing their personal carbon footprints by a tonne. You can find out more about the Carbon Challenge at “www.savetodaysavetomorrow.com“http://www.savetodaysavetomorrow.com.
The EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon is organised by Birmingham City Council, sponsored by EDF Energy and supported by 100.7 heart fm, the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa FC, Birmingham City FC and the Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust.
